Megan Fox

Megan began her professional acting and modeling career at the age of 13 after winning several awards at the 1999 American Modeling and Talent Convention in Hilton Head, South Carolina. With these new awards, Megan started seeking a future acting career and moved to Los Angeles to help pursue this dream. In 2001, Megan made her feature film debut in the Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen movie, Holiday in the Sun, where she played the spoiled, stuck-up antagonist, Brianna Wallace.

She went on to garner recurring roles in the low-key soap opera Ocean Ave. and appeared in an episode of the Amanda Bynes sitcom What I Like About You.

In 2004, Megan co-starred alongside Lindsay Lohan in Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen, where she gained mainstream recognition. She also appeared in a TV movie called Crimes of Fashion and secured a spot on the Kelly Ripa-led sitcom Hope & Faith.

Megan was named #68 in FHM magazine's "100 Sexiest Women in the World 2006". She also appeared in her own five-page spread in FHM's November 2005 issue. In 2008, she was voted the Sexiest Woman in the World by FHM.

Megan stared as the female lead in the Michael Bay-helmed movie Transformers, released on July 7th, 2007. Her character, Kylea, plays the love interest of Shia LeBeouf’s character Sam "Spike" Witwicky. She has signed on for two more Transformer sequals. Transformers 2: Rise of the Fallen is due out in 2010.

Fox will also star in Diablo Cody's Jennifer's Body, which is due to be released in 2009.

Megan currently resides in Los Angeles, California. She has one older sister. Megan has 9 tattoos. In November 2006, Megan announced her engagement to Beverly Hills 90201 star Brian Austin Green.

Kavita Krishnamurti

Born in Delhi, she began her vocal training under Sr. Balram Puri, (a reputed teacher in the Hindustani style of music) at a very young age. Her incredible talent was evident by age eight.

Kavita enrolled at St. Xaviers College, Bombay where she obtained an Honours Degree in Economics. Kavita started singing professionally on stage with the great music directors and singer Hemant Kumar, and Manna Dey. Later, she started dubbing for Lata Mangeshkar in Hindi films. Kavita began her recording career singing for commercial advertisements like Amul, Complan and Nirma in the early stages of her career. Initially, Kavita's exemplary voice took her to the UK, the US, Middle East, the West Indies, South Africa and Australia. This was later followed by several international concert tours.

Her first recording for a Bengali film song was done with Lata Mangeshkar. "Maang Bharo Sajna" was her first Hindi film under Laxmikant Pyarelal followed by "Pyar Jhukta Nahin". Since then, she has sung for many more films like Mr. India, Karma, Saudagar, Khuda Gawah, Chaalbaaz, 1942 - A Love Story, Yaarana, Mohara, Bombay, Saaz, Khamoshi, Pardesh, Bhairavi, Agnisakshi, Prem Agan, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Bade Miyan Chhote Miyan, Wajood, Hum Dil de Chuke Sanam, Taal, Hum Saath Saath Hain, Vastav, Khoobsurat, Gaja Gamini, Pukar, Dil Chahta Hai, Devdas, Dil Vil Pyar Vyar and Jeena Sirf Tere Liye.

She has sung for regional films in many Indian languages such as Marathi, Punjabi, Bengali, Oriya, Assamese, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada. Kavita has sung more than 1500 songs in several languages.

Apart from films, she has to her credit many non-films albums such as Koi Akela Kahan (Plus Music), Meera Ka Ram (BMG), Pop Time (Magna Sound) and Devotional Melodies (HMV).

Kavita Subramaniam's undaunted efforts to excel in the field of singing have brought her several accolades, and a large fan following the world over. Prestigious awards include three Film Fare awards, in 1995 for the film "1942 - A Love Story", in 1996 for the film "Yaarana" and in 1997 for "Khamoshi".

The 1997 Screen Award for "Khamoshi" and the 1998 Sansui Viewers Choice Award were won by her. She also won the 1999 Screen Videocon Award for "Hum Dil de Chuke Sanam" and 1999 Lux Zee Cine Award for "Hum Dil de Chuke Sanam". She is the recipient of the Priyadarshini Award, the Lion's Club Awards - Kala Sangam, the Lion's Award!

She won the "Best singer" award at the Stardust Millennium 2000 Awards … and the list continues! She was twice the recipient of the Bollywood Award, once in 2000 and 2002, held in New York. She also won the Kishore Kumar Journalists'/Critics' Award for the 2002 in Kolkata.

Following her wedding to Dr. L. Subramaniam, Kavita has been working on new fusion projects and exploring new avenues in music. Her husband, apart from being a serious classical musician, is also a maestro of global fusion music and western orchestral compositions. She has been featured as a Soloist in the latest Global Fusion album of Dr. L. Subramaniam, distributed by Warner Bros. The husband and wife team performed their fusion concert in Hyderabad on 31 December 1999 at the start of the annual Lakshminarayana Global Music Festival, which was attended by close to 200,000 people.

They have been touring and collaborating on a joint album to be released soon.

To commemorate 100 years of the Nobel Peace Prize, an album has been released bringing together the best from music and excerpts from speeches of Nobel laureates. For this project featuring artists from all around the world, Dr. Subramaniam and Kavita Krishnamurti Subramaniam were chosen to represent the Asian continent. Their composition, Trancedental Peace features Dr. Subramaniam on the violin, Mrs. Subramaniam singing and the words of Mother Teresa and Nelson Mandela. This historical compact disc also features the music of Kris Kristofferson, Sinead O'Conner Brilliant and Knut Reiersrud and the words of, Matrin Luther King Jr, Dalai Lama, Kofi Annan, Yitzhak Rabin and Yaseer Arafat among others.

Kajol is not so beautiful, but there is some magnet in her personality, that attracts people.

Born to the producer-actress duo of Shomu Mukherjee and Tanuja on August 5, 1975, Kajol grew up in an influential setting. Her father and uncles ruled in the arena of producing films and her mother, Tanuja, aunt Nutan and grandmother Shobhana Samarth were established actresses par excellence.

Kajol took up films more as a hobby pursuit than a career choice. Rooted firmly in a family of film people, Kajol has strong financial support. Therefore, the actress was fortunate to never having to compromise on the kind of films she wanted to do for the sake of money.

Karishma Kapoor

Karisma made her debut in the 1991 movie Prem Qaidi, which was a semi-hit. Although most of her multiple releases from 1992-1996 failed to do well at the box office, she had some success with films like Jigar (1992), Anari (1993), Raja Babu (1994), Coolie No. 1 (1995), Saajan Chale Sasural (1996) and Jeet (1996).

In 1996, Kapoor played the female lead in Dharmesh Darshan's Raja Hindustani opposite Aamir Khan. The movie was the highest grossing film of the yearand she won her first Filmfare Best Actress Award. The following year, she won the Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award and the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Yash Chopra's super-hit,Dil To Pagal Hai opposite Shahrukh Khan and Madhuri Dixit.

In 2000, she won her second Filmfare Best Actress Award for her performance in Khalid Mohammed's Fiza. Her performance in the film was much appreciated as she surprised the audiences and the critics showing great emotional range and depth. She also achieved critical acclaim for her role in the film, Zubeidaa (2001), which garnered her the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Performance. Her performance in Shakti - The Power (2002) was highly appreciated and earned her many nominations in the Best Actress category.

In 2003 she played the leading role in the television series Karishma: A Miracle of Destiny. After her film, Baaz: A Bird In Danger which also released in 2003, she took a sabbatical from full time acting for three years.

Her most recent release was the delayed film, Mere Jeevan Saathi (2006) in which she played a negative role.

Jackie Chan

Jackie Chan was born in Hong Kong on April 7th, 1954. His parents, Charles and Lee-lee Chan named him Chan Kong-sang which means "born in Hong Kong." Jackie weighed 12 pounds when he was born and his mother required surgery to deliver him. Jackie's parents were so poor that they had to borrow money from friends to pay the doctor.

Charles was a cook and Lee-lee was a housekeeper at French embassy in Hong Kong. Charles Chan believed that learning kung fu would help build Jackie's character, teaching him patience, strength, and courage.

During Jackie's time at the school, he learned martial arts, acrobatics, singing, and acting. The school was meant to prepare boys for a life in the Peking Opera. Chinese opera was very different from any other kind of opera. It included singing, tumbling, and acrobatics as well as martial arts skills and acting. Students at the school were severely disciplined and were beaten if they disobeyed or made mistakes. It was a very harsh and difficult life but Jackie had nowhere else to go, so he stayed. He rarely saw his parents for many years.

When Jackie was 17, he graduated from the China Drama Academy. Unfortunately the Chinese opera was no longer very popular, so Jackie and his classmates had to find other work. This was difficult because at the school they were never taught how to read or write. The only work available to them was unskilled labor or stunt work. Each year many movies were made in Hong Kong and there was always a need for young, strong stuntmen. Jackie was extraordinarily athletic and inventive, and soon gained a reputation for being fearless; Jackie Chan would try anything. Soon he was in demand.

Over the next few years, Jackie worked as a stuntman, but when the Hong Kong movie industry began to fail, he was forced to go to Australia to live with his parents. He worked in a restaurant and on a construction site. It was there that he got the name "Jackie." A worker named Jack had trouble pronouncing "Kong-sang" and started calling Jackie "little Jack." That soon became “Jackie” and the name stuck.

Willie Chan worked in the Hong Kong movie industry and was looking for someone to star in a new movie being made by Lo Wei, a famous Hong Kong producer/director. Willie had seen Jackie at work as a stuntman and had been impressed. Jackie called Willie and they talked. Jackie didn't know it but Willie would end up becoming his best friend and manager. Soon Jackie was on his way back to Hong Kong to star in "New Fist of Fury." It was 1976 and Jackie Chan was 21 years old.

Once Jackie got back to Hong Kong, Willie Chan took control over Jackie's career. To this day Jackie is quick to point out that he owes his success to Willie. However, the movies that Jackie made for Lo Wei were not very successful. The problem was that Jackie's talents were not being used properly. It was only when Jackie was able to contribute his own ideas that he became a star. He brought humor to martial arts movies; his first success was "Snake in Eagle's Shadow." This was followed by "Drunken Master" (another blockbuster) and Jackie's first ever directing job, "Fearless Hyena." All were big hits.

Madhuri Dixit

Madhuri Dixit’s allure lies in her classic good looks and poise. The much sought after actress was the muse of artist M.F.Hussain and is tagged as an outstanding dancer adding that extra bit of spice to the film screens.

Madhuri Shankar Dixit was born on 15th May 1967 into a Marathi Brahmin family in Mumbai, India. Her parents are Shankar and Snehalata Dixit. She is the youngest of four children. She has two older sisters Rupa and Bharati and an older brother Ajit.

Madhuri studied at the Parle College and considered a future in micro-biology. She also trained in Kathak for over eight years.

She was linked with actor Sanjay Dutt before she married Sriram Madhav Nene, a surgeon based in the USA in 1999. They have two sons, Arin born in 2003 and Ryan in 2005. The family lives in Denver, Colorado.

The Government of India conferred Madhuri the Padma Shri Award, the highest civilian award in 2008.

Queen of Hearts

It took Madhuri Dixit a little over three years before she shot to fame. Madhuri’s first movie was Abodh in 1984 and after a few forgettable performances, she appeared in Dayavan. Tezaab with Anil Kapoor became a box office hit and she followed this with performances in Ram Lakhan, Prem Prathiyaga, Tridev and Parinda which became India’s official entry to the Oscars. Madhuri Dixit and Anil Kapoor enjoyed a successful chemistry on screen and worked together in many movies.

1990 to 1995 Madhuri won the Filmfare Best Actress Award in 1990 for her role as Madhu in Indra Kumar’s Dil opposite Aamir Khan. Saajan, a love triangle, starring Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt did good business in 1991. She starred with Anil Kapoor in 1992 in movies like Khel, Zindagi Ek Jua and Beta. One of Madhuri’s most famous dance sequences Dhak Dhak Karne Laga was from Beta. She won another Filmfare Best Actress Award.

In 1993, Khalnayak with Sanjay Dutt and Jackie Shroff was a blockbuster while her dance sequence Choli Ke Peeche Kya Hai created ripples as she sets off to trap the criminal Ballu. If Anjaam with Shah Rukh Khan in 1994 failed to do well, Hum Aapke Hai Kaun with Salman Khan broke records and added another feather, a rather bright one, in her cap. She won her third Filmfare Best Actress Award. She had two releases in 1995, Raja and Yaarana.

Madhuri’s success rate tapered until the 1997 release Yash Chopra’s Dil to Paagal Hai as Pooja, a dancer. In 2000, she faced Anil Kapoor once again in Rajkumar Santoshi’s Pukar as Anjali who wreaks havoc in the life of Major Jaidev Rajvansh. She was also seen in M.F.Hussain’s Gaja Gamini. The movie famously inspired by her, explores the different facets of a woman.

In 2001, she played Jhanki in Lajja that centered around strong female characters. In Devdas, a much anticipated release in 2002, Madhuri donned the role of a courtesan Chandramukhi whose love for Devdas doesn’t save him. Her portrayal of the courtesan won her the Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award.

She moved away from Bollywood for five years and returned back in Aaja Nachle in 2007 as Dia who is trying to bring the Ajanta Theater back on to its feet. The movie didn’t earned as expected.

Madhubala

The collective gasp that went up in theatres this week as Madhubala unveiled her magnetic beauty to an entirely new generation of moviegoers can be heard all over the country.

The Madhubala magic has reawakened, thanks to the enchantment created by the newly coloured version of K. Asif's timeless "Mughal-e-Azam" which opened this week.

The magic of Madhubala in "Mughal-e-Azam" is the magic of Hindi cinema. She epitomises all the grace and feminine beauty that make those flickering images on screen come alive as a collective emblem of the life force.

And to think that she died so young. Thirty-six is no age to die. Not for one of the most beautiful women god ever created... or maybe he needed to have her up there to beautify heaven.

Madhubala is as much synonymous with beauty as Lata Mangeshkar is with melody.

Short-lived as her stardom was, Madhubala's reign at the top was swift and splendid.

Born in a conservative Muslim family, Madhubala started her career in 1942 at the age of nine in "Basant". Her first hit as a grown-up leading lady was Kidar Sharma's "Neel Kamal" where both she and Raj Kapoor were introduced.

It was Kamal Amrohi's "Mahal" in 1949 which gave Madhubala the image of an ethereal, unattainable yet warm and gregarious beauty who could be diva and she-devil at the same time. Lata Mangeshkar's haunting melody "Ayega aanewala" added immense allure to Madhubala's screen persona. The actress and the singer remained associated throughout Madhubala's life and career.

Lata Mangeshkar recalls meeting Madhubala socially. "She was always warm and friendly. Though everyone stressed on her breathtaking beauty, Madhubala never took her looks seriously."
